Preparing for a new job opportunity requires a goal along with strategy, hard work, persistence and patients. This article will focus on the goals within the goals for a successful outcome to your search for traditional or self employment.

Make sure any goal you set is realistic and achievable. Establish a time period to reach it. Depending on the goal itself, this can be anywhere from one month to three years. Establishing a time frame doesn’t mean failure if the goal isn’t met by the time specified, it’s merely a deadline to shoot for. If you reach the goal by or before the deadline then that’s great! If not, then you’re just that much closer to it.

Determine what direction you want your career to take what you need to get there. Do you have the required skills? Do you need additional training? Having the goal and desire is one thing but having the credentials is another. If a certification is required, take the necessary steps to get one. If additional training is needed then consider taking classes at your local community college if necessary.

Setting goal ahead of time makes a smoother transition to your new and unique job.
